To assist with post-Harvey clean-up, citizens of the City of Vidor will have use of the City's roll-off dumpsters at no charge until March 24, 2018.

The dumpsters are located at 155 Watts Street, behind the police station, and are open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 7 am - 3 pm. (It is closed for lunch from noon- 12:30 pm.)

Normal rules for dumping apply such as no hazardous waste or household garbage.

Stable-Spirit has come a long way after Hurricane Harvey and the severe flooding that followed and would like to extend a huge thank you to all the donors and volunteers who helped in the donations, cleanup and rebuild of their facility.

The large therapy room has been completed and Hippotherapy will begin again on Wednesday, April 4, 2018!! A handicapped restroom complete with changing table is soon to be built! The main office and parents area are next on the rebuild and are soon to be completed.

Texas Independence Day is the celebration of the adoption of the Texas Declaration of Independence on March  2, 1836.

With this document signed by 59 delegates, settlers in Mexican Texas officially declared independence from Mexico and created the Republic of Texas.


In observance of Texas Independence Day, City of Vidor offices, except for the Police and Sanitation departments, will be closed Friday, March 2, 2018.

The Sanitation Department will run its normal Friday route. Customers are advised to have their cans out by 6:00 a.m.

Anyone desiring to make a payment to either the Sanitation department or the Municipal Court may use the appropriate drop box located in the rear of City Hall Municipal Building.

The City of Vidor has scheduled a Special Election for May 5, 2018 to fill the unexpired term for Ward 6 of the Vidor City Council.



The Special Election will be held concurrently with the General Election for the Ward 2,3, and 5 council seats.  Any eligible candidate who is interested in serving on the Vidor City Council representing Ward 6 may obtain a Candidate Packet from the City Secretary, Vicki Watson, at Vidor City Hall, 1395 North Main St. in Vidor.  This term will only be for one (1) year due to the unexpired term.


Candidate Packets contain an Application for a Place on the Ballot, Texas Ethics Commission’s Form CTA – Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer by a Candidate, as well as other candidate forms and instructions.  (Note:  The Application for a Place on the Ballot must be signed in the presence of a Notary.)


Candidates filing for the Special Election must return their completed, signed, and notarized application packet to Ms. Watson at City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am- 5:00 pm.  The last day to file for Ward 6 is Monday, March 5, 2018.  (A reminder, eligible candidates wishing to file for Wards 2,3, and 5 must do so no later than Friday, February 16, 2018.)



Qualifications for City Council are found in the Vidor City Charter, Section 3.04. - Qualifications of elected officers:

"Each member of the City Council (including the Mayor) shall be a resident of the City of Vidor, shall be a qualified voter of the State of Texas, shall have been such a resident of the City of Vidor for a period of not less than one (1) year immediately preceding his/her election and shall not be indebted to the City of Vidor. If the Mayor or any Councilmember moves from the City or the Ward from which he/she is elected during the term of office for which he/she was elected, or if he/she is convicted of any felony or of any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, he/she shall automatically forfeit his/her office and it shall be deemed vacant. If any Councilmember fails to maintain the foregoing qualifications or shall be absent from three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled meetings without valid excuse, the City Council, must, at its next regular meeting, declare a vacancy to exist and shall fill the vacancy by appointment until the next regularly scheduled election of the City. The City Council shall be the judge of the election and qualification of its members. Each Councilmember must be a resident of the ward for which he/she files."
